  • Emily The Criminal

I truthfully find that the further and further I look, I see no one going backwards in time, especially for the times that we find ourselves in.

Emily The Criminal does just that. It almost feels like a movie ripped straight from the 70’s. Where nobody can win, the good guy always loses.

Except, it’s set in today’s times. With today’s crushing student debt. With today’s youth, unable to find jobs. With today’s youth being asked to work for no pay.

I love the line, “Hey, you wanna tell me what to do, put me on the fucking payroll.

In my mind eye, it’s an almost perfect representation of not only what today’s young people are going through, it’s almost perfect representation of what we’re going through as a nation.

And the lengths some of us have to go to simply to advance. This isn’t about getting ahead. This isn’t about gaining some high paying job straight out of college, for those that can even find a job straight out of college.

No, it’s simply inching their way along. Crawling, before walking. Except, that we, as a society, keep on kicking them back. Screaming at them, “THAT’S MINE!”

  • Andor season 2

This is some of the best writing I think I’ve ever seen on television. I mean, we’re talking ‘Felina‘ type of good. We’re talking about ‘The Empire Strikes Back‘ good. The way it’s shot, the acting; it’s just, in a word, awesome.

And Harvest, Season 2 episode 3? OMG. You can’t ask for a more picture perfect center piece on feminine power, in my opinion.

First off, you have Bix who is almost raped. She’s fights off her attacker.

Then, you have Dedra, who puts her lover’s mother in her place.

Then, you’ve got Mon Mothma, who just dances to that repetitive, but catchy, tune… Just like she’s going to have to be doing for the rest of the resistance.

Then you’ve got Cinta, who, it’s heavily implied, kills Tay.

    So, IMO…

Fight like Bix, argue like Dedra. rebel like Mon Mothma, and kill like Cinta.

Just a chef’s kiss to whoever directed this episode. Thank you.
